Thanksgiving is one of the most exciting holidays of the year. It's when we all come together, to be thankful for each other, our families and friends. It's also a time for us to give thanks. The Pilgrims had so much to be thankful for and we should do the same today.

It's also a time for us to give thanks. I feel a deep sense of connection to America. Our family first arrived here in 1963, when I was two. And I grew up here in the 1970s, a time when it felt like it was just us and our families against the world.
A lot of my identity comes from that experience and what it means to be an American in this world.
We all have different truths based on our experiences and we can only start to understand each other if we allow ourselves to be present, humble and vulnerable with each other so that we can listen more deeply.  When you are truly listening to people, not just hearing what they’re saying as words, but allowing yourself to hear their stories beneath the words, then you can begin to understand some of their truth.  And then you can share your own truth with them. And it’s not so easy even now for me to do that, but I’m practicing all the time. We don't spend a lot of time in Plymouth, but I really enjoying exploring the city's streets, especially in the old town. With beautiful pubs and restaurants and several independent shops selling everything from street art to eclectic vintage fashion, it's definitely worth a visit. If you're feeling fancy, then go for lunch or dinner at The Mountbatten Hotel just outside of Old Town - they serve up some beautiful food with stunning views across the harbour.
