A strong low could bring impactful weather to Southwest Alaska
from Wednesday evening through Friday. Gusts 35-45 mph are likely,
with gusts as high as 60 mph possible from Kamishak Bay into
interior Bristol Bay. Waves up to 10-15 ft are possible over
Bristol Bay and could cause high surf. High surf is also possible

through a brief favorable period, however confidence is low on
this area. Please monitor weather.gov/afc as we continue to

Coastal Flood Advisory issued August 3 at 7:10PM AKDT until August 5 at 7:00PM AKDT

Alert Icon Weather Alerts

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Coastal
Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 1 AM to 7 PM AKDT
Saturday.

* LOCATION...Kuskokwim Delta and Nunivak Island

* COASTAL FLOODING...Water levels are expected to rise during high
tides, 3 to 5 feet above normal highest tide.

* TIMING...1 AM to 7 PM AKST Saturday. West of Kipnuk, including
Nunivak Island, can experience two tidal peaks above normal
highest tide early Saturday morning and again Saturday
afternoon. Kipnuk eastward will peak Saturday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...South to southeasterly winds with gusts of 45 to 60
mph from a strong storm for this time of year will begin to
increase late Friday evening and last through Saturday
afternoon. Resulting higher seas and surf, coinciding with high
tide, would raise the potential for both flooding among low
lying areas and coastal erosion for communities along the
Kuskokwim Delta coast and Nunivak Island.

Special Weather Statement issued February 21 at 3:27PM AKST by NWS Anchorage AK

Alert Icon Weather Alerts

The first of two progressively warmer systems will move across
Southwest Alaska from west to east today and tonight, bringing
gusty southerly winds, coastal rain and interior snow.
For the most part, temperatures aloft are conducive to snow, but
onshore flow will likely warm the surface into the mid to upper
30s for coastal areas and hover around freezing for interior
valleys. A break in precipitation overnight, as well as a
reduction in wind speed, may allow some interior valleys to fall
back below or remain below freezing. On Wednesday, a second
system with much warmer air above the surface will spread mostly
rain across the region. Expect colder temperatures to return from
west to east on Thursday.

The development of strong southerly winds through the Kuskokwim
Bay Wednesday morning will bring elevated water levels with the
potential for water pushing up through cracks in the sea ice and
flowing over top of the shorefast ice along the south and west
facing shorelines. The greatest chance for elevated water levels
is along the coastline from Kwigillingok east. Winds will diminish
and shift westerly by late Thursday morning.
