Gilbert Butler, a member of First Baptist Church Guin, celebrated his 100th birthday Dec. 3 at the church. Born in 1922 in Woodville, Alabama, his birthday was Dec. 2. A graduate of Auburn University, Butler was a public school teacher for 28 years, mostly as Marion County High School’s agriculture teacher. He and his late wife, Marguerite, began serving as missions volunteers in 1975, and participated in more than 80 assignments. He has three children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
