Owensboro, Kentucky- the Bluegrass Music Capital of the World- just unveiled an exciting new addition to its bluegrass resume. Rick Faris, who was named the 2022 New Artist of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, is moving to town and bringing his world famous Faris Guitars with him. That particular song, by the way, is nominated for the IBMA's 2023 Song of the Year. Chris Joslin, the Executive Director of Owensboro's Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum, held a press conference this morning in conjunction with various city and county leaders.

There, he announced the all new Kentucky Guitar Works @ the Center for Lutherie. Kentucky Guitar Works will be located at 207 East Second Street in downtown Owensboro in a space that was part of the previous home of the International Bluegrass Museum. The new guitar shop is situated in front of the RiverPark Center and adjacent to the offices of the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. Rick Faris has been building handmade guitars since 2000. Rick's guitars have been in high demand and here's a stat that illustrates their popularity. Because each guitar is built to a customer's order, there generally has been a 2-year wait for one. Orders are currently being accepted. The price of a Faris Guitar varies depending on the project, materials, custom inlay, etc.

If you'd like to begin the process of a build, you can contact Rick at farisguitarco@gmail.com. Rick, who currently lives in Topeka, Kansas, will be moving his wife Nicole and their two sons (Parker and Kent) to Owensboro and Rick will be Kentucky Guitar Works' "permanent luthier in residence."
