Bernie L. Pikal, 79, resident of Naples, Florida, passed away at Avow Hospice House on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Bernie is survived by his wife Barbara Ann Pikal. He is the loving father of Kristen J. Shelton (Orval) and Chad J. Pikal (Carrie). He is also the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren along with five great-grandchildren.

Bernie is survived by many loving family and friends. Bernie was born February 5, 1944, in New Prague, Minnesota to the late Winifred B. and John J. Pikal. In 1962 he graduated from New Prague High School where he went on to attend the College of Saint Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He later transitioned into Northwestern Television and Electronics Institute. His interests and schooling led to a successful career in the medical equipment industry.

In his early career, he was employed by Profexray/Litton Medical Equipment in which he even traveled to a small village in Mexico on horseback to install and service critical equipment for the support staff. In May of 1973 he began a long and successful career with Siemens Medical Systems. Through the years he achieved many accolades and awards including National Sales Representative of the year.

He retired from Siemens Medical Systems in 2001. Bernie thoroughly enjoyed hobbies such as international travel, rehabbing homes, and a deep love for art. He was masterful in both stained-glass and mosaics and later transitioned to painting after retirement. Bernie enjoyed staying in touch with family, co-workers and clients that became lifelong friends as his disease progressed.

He was a man of deep faith and a lifelong Catholic. May God grant him eternal peace. Funeral arrangements are by Fuller Funeral Home, Naples, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, Florida 34120.

Interment to follow at St. Agnes Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bernie’s memory to Avow Hospice Care, St. Agnes Catholic Church or Amyloidosis Research.
