James Gilbert passed away in a tragic accident on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in Dresser, WI at the age of 76 years old. He was born to Donald and Bernice Gilbert on April 8, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from Willernie High School in 1965. Then joined the Army serving as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War while being stationed in Korea working as a mechanic on nuclear weapons.

Jim and his former spouse, Monica had one daughter together, Christina in 1984. He went on to remarry his wife of 31 years, Vicki on June 15, 1992. He was a proud business owner nearly his entire life. Serving others in the areas of small engine, construction and remodeling and most recently ceramic floor coatings. Jim enjoyed woodworking, creating new “recipes”, spending time with his children and grandchildren, but most importantly helping others.

He could build or fix quite possibly anything. He saw potential in everything and everyone. And he will be remembered for the way he showed up for strangers, supported his family, his big smile and even bigger heart. Jim will forever be missed by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Christina, step-sons, Michael and Jeffery; grandchildren, Nicholas, Korey and Sasha; sisters, Sharon and Lori; dog, Stella, and many loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Donald; mother, Bernice and friend, Dr. John Jagusch. Please join us in a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 3:00-7:00pm at the 4H Building inside the Polk County Fairgrounds (800 E Louisiana St. Saint Croix Falls, WI 54024).
