There is an elevated risk of wildfire spread today with NW winds
10 to 15 mph and gusts around 20 to 30 mph this afternoon. Minimum
relative humidity values will range from 35 to 45 percent.

New York state has declared a burn ban through November 30. The
burn ban prohibits the starting of outdoor fires for purposes of
brush and debris disposal, as well as uncontained campfires, and
open fires used for cooking. Use extra caution if handling any
potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and
ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts.

Special Weather Statement issued November 17 at 6:06PM EST

There is an elevated risk of fire spread Monday.

NW winds Monday morning around 10 mph with gusts near 15 to 20
mph will increase to near 10 to 15 mph by Monday afternoon with
gusts around 20 to 30 mph. Minimum relative humidity is forecast
to range between 30 and 45 percent Monday. The minimum relative
humidity is forecast to be near 40 to 50 percent for the Lower
Hudson Valley and Eastern Long Island and more in the 35 to 40
percent range for NYC and Western Long Island.
