A Nebraska doctor is facing up to 20 years in prison for his part in a traffic accident that took the life of a Sioux Falls woman earlier this month in Omaha. KETV is reporting that 61-year-old surgeon Dr. Mark Carlson's Mercedes Benz was traveling as fast as 106 miles per hour just seconds before it struck a light pole and then a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Anna Bosma. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Get our free mobile app Court documents show that on September 1, Carlson was allegedly racing another vehicle on Dodge Street when he approached the intersection of 62nd Street at speeds of 106 miles per hour with the car's accelerator pedal 100 percent engaged. A warrant has been issued for Carlson on manslaughter charges.

He was been hospitalized since the accident. Bosma was born in Yankton in 2001 and lived in Vermillion before moving to Sioux Falls in 2004. She attended Mark Twain Elementary School, Patrick Henry Middle School, and Lincoln High School. In May, she graduated cum laude from South Dakota University with a degree in Exercise Science.

In July she enrolled in the Occupational Therapy Doctorate program at the University of South Dakota.
