The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Snohomish County, warning of possible freezing rain. The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday. Road conditions may be slippery, and travel in the area could be difficult. A Winter Storm Warning has also been issued for the Cascades, with heavy mixed precipitation expected above 1,500 feet. Snow accumulations of 16 to 38 inches and possible ice of one-tenth of an inch are predicted. Stevens Pass is expected to receive 10 to 16 inches of snow accumulation on Wednesday. Temperatures in Everett are expected to stay chilly with a low of 31 degrees on Tuesday night, and a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain is anticipated as warmer air mixes with cold air. On Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures are predicted to reach the high 30s with little or no snow accumulation expected. Agencies like Snohomish County Regional Fire and Rescue are responding to water main breaks as frozen pipes begin to thaw after an unusually long deep freeze. Residents are advised to know how to turn off the valve on their water mains and open faucets to release pressure in order to prevent flooding in their homes.
