Most of the winter weather projections had predicted a mid to late start to Winter this year. Well, this year Winter started very early. We had more snow in December than we've had in a while. The mountains got dumped on. Now, going into January, when Winter was projected to start, the weather has warmed up and seems to be staying warm thru most of the month. The mountains are still getting snow, but the projections seem to be significantly off.
The weather projections up until Winter started had suggested that we were also supposed to have a later Winter, so we'll see how that turns out.
I remember in the mid to late 80's how there were years when Ski reports like Snoqualmie Summit barely received any snow. I. think it was after that the Ski pass insurance came to be. People had purchased annual passes and were only able to use them for 3 weeks or so. Foretunealty, we haven't had any more years like those, but cycles happen, and I'm sure it will come back around.
Weather predictions are rarely spot on so this Winter will be interesting to see how close they came or were off the mark. As for Us, we are looking forward to a longer Winter!
