The City of North Bend reports that there have been no PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) found in its water sources in 2023. PFAS are chemicals used in consumer products and manufacturing to make them more resistant to water, grease, or stains. The EPA has identified concerns about their presence in the environment as they break down very slowly. The City's water department tests for PFAS several times a year and has not found any in the drinking water supply. For more information on PFAS, you can visit the EPA website or the Washington Department of Health website. The City will continue testing the water supply and maintaining a wellhead protection program. If you have any questions, you can contact City Engineer Don DeBerg.
