A cougar was spotted in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood by a woman named Rebeca Rambal while she was walking along a trail at Lawton Park. Cougars are rarely seen in the wild, but Washington state is home to about 3,600 of them. While attacks are uncommon, they do occur, as evidenced by a recent incident near North Bend. Rambal's encounter with the cougar was brief and peaceful as the animal quickly retreated when she tried to shoo it away. She values her safety over capturing a photo of the big cat and has reported the sighting to the Department of Fish and Wildlife for investigation.
