Rob Lloyd Leaving San Jose to Become CTO in Seattle

Rob Lloyd, the deputy city manager of San Jose and a longtime technology leader, is leaving for a new tech position in Seattle as the interim chief technology officer (CTO) and director of its Information Technology Department. His decision was influenced by family reasons and professional opportunities. Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell praised Lloyd's expertise and commitment to public service. San Jose will start recruiting for a new deputy city manager. Lloyd's tenure in San Jose involved advancing innovations, modernizing systems, leading in privacy, AI, and equity areas, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He played a key role in initiatives like the San Jose Digital Inclusion Fund. Lloyd will begin his new role in Seattle on June 24 after serving San Jose since 2016.
