A group of five mountain bikers in Washington was attacked by a cougar, resulting in one cyclist being injured. The cyclists managed to pin down the cougar and call for help before a wildlife officer arrived and killed the animal. Another cougar involved in the incident fled. The attack occurred near Tokul Creek, with one biker hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Wildlife officials shot and removed one cougar at the scene, while efforts were made to track down the second cougar that had escaped. Cougar attacks on humans are rare, with only two fatal attacks and around 20 other recorded encounters resulting in human injury in Washington state over the last century.
