Gene Keating was born in 1928 in Liberal, Kansas, and passed away in 2011 in Spokane Valley, Washington. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a radioman before pursuing higher education, earning degrees from Kansas State University and the University of Arizona. Keating was a rancher in Kansas and later became a professor of ruminant nutrition at California State Polytechnic University for 34 years. He was actively involved with the Cal Poly Rodeo Team and the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Keating moved to Veradale, Washington, with his wife Iris in 2006. He is survived by his wife, two children, and three grandchildren. Memorial donations can be made to Shoes That Fit organization.
