Local Scam Re-occurring

The Spokane Police Department is warning residents about a new scam in the area. Scammers are posing as U.S. Customs Agents and calling residents, claiming they have a warrant and instructing them to pay a fine to avoid arrest. Shortly after, another call is made by someone pretending to be a Spokane Police officer, confirming the legitimacy of the first call and urging payment of the fine. The police department emphasizes that these calls are not valid and that they do not solicit money over the phone. Residents are advised to be cautious and not fall for this scam.
