William L. Matthaei, a prominent figure in the milling and baking industries for over 40 years, passed away at the age of 74 in Fargo, North Dakota. He was part of a family legacy dating back to a bakery established in Germany in 1686. Matthaei served as president and CEO of Roman Meal Co., later overseeing Dakota Milling and Blending. He was known for his dedication to his work, outdoor pursuits, and conservation efforts. Despite battling plasma cell leukemia since 2008, he remained resilient through treatment. Survived by his wife, two children, and five grandchildren, celebrations of his life will be held in West Fargo and Tacoma.
