Hot and humid weather will prevail into this weekend over central and
southeast IL. The hottest days will be Friday and Saturday when
temperatures climb into the mid 90s, and afternoon heat index values
peak near or above 100 degrees.

If working outside this week, be sure to drink plenty of water, wear
loose-fitting and light-colored clothing, and take frequent breaks
in air-conditioned locations. Be sure to check on those most
vulnerable to the heat, including children and the elderly. Provide
shade and fresh water for outdoor pets and livestock, and check the
backseat of your vehicle when transporting children.

Hot and humid weather will prevail through Sunday over central and
southeast IL. The hottest days will be Friday and Saturday when
temperatures climb into the mid 90s, and afternoon heat index values
peak near or above 100 degrees. Less humid air arrives Sunday night
and Monday, but the tropical heat and humidity returns on Tuesday
when afternoon heat indices could reach near or above 100 degrees.

If working outside through this weekend and on Tuesday, be sure to
drink plenty of water, wear loose-fitting and light-colored
clothing, and take frequent breaks in air-conditioned locations. Be
sure to check on those most vulnerable to the heat, including
children and the elderly. Provide shade and fresh water for outdoor
pets and livestock, and check the backseat of your vehicle when
transporting children.
