The top 3 Lehigh Valley-area concerts this week bring an amazing mix of punk rock legends, women song-writers, and ‘90s hitmakers to the area. First is a legendary NYC hardcore band known for their aggressive style and slam dancing crowds. Next is a mini music festival celebrating women artists complete with five different performers celebrating their unique styles.
And last is a band that garnered serious mainstream success with the release of their 1992 album “New Miserable Experience,” producing hit after hit turning them into a household name. Known for their aggressive in your face style, incorporating elements of punk in line with Black Flag or the Bad Brains along with thrash metal, the band earned a following quickly and continues to release albums and tour extensively. It’s a collaboration from Foul Rift Productions and the legendary Godfrey Daniels celebrating women artists. Attendees will enjoy performances from five different women while enjoy food and drink from Zekraft-Curators of Taste. Gin Blossoms When: 6:30 p.m. Sunday Where: Wind Creek Event Center, 77 Wind Creek Blvd., Bethlehem How much: $49.50-$89.50 Tickets: ticketmaster.com 610-297-7414 Musical style: Pop rock, alternative, rock Known for hits like: “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You,” “Til I Hear It From You,” “Follow You Down,” and, “Allison Road.” Meet the band: Formed in 1987 in Tempe, Arizona, Gin Blossoms began gaining notice with the release of their first single, “Hey Jealousy” off their 1992 album, “New Miserable Experience.” The single was a Top 25 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and went to number four on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks, with the album going on to reach quadruple platinum status.
Their followup album, 1996’s “Congratulations I’m Sorry” went platinum and produced the Grammy nominated single, “As Long as It Matters.” The band called it quits in 1997 and then reformed in 2001 and have released three albums since.
