Albany has issued a Air Quality Health Advisory for Fine
Particulates...from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Monday night.
Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than
an air quality index value of 100 for Fine Particulates. The air
quality index...or AQI...was created as an easy way to correlate
levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI
value, the greater the health concern.
When pollution levels are elevated...the New York State Department
of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous
outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health
effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of
elevated levels of pollutants include the very young and those with
pre existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease.
Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal

Massachusetts, east central New York and southern Vermont.
* WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through late Tuesday night.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more
heavy rain. Heavy rainfall in recent weeks has led to saturated
soils across the area. It will not take much additional rainfall
to lead to flash flooding.

Columbia, Eastern Dutchess, Eastern Greene, Eastern Ulster,
Western Columbia, Western Dutchess, Western Greene and Western
Ulster.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

- Additional showers and thunderstorms will be developing this
afternoon into tonight. With the ground already saturated
and streams running high, it will not take much rainfall for
flooding to occur. Urban, small streams and poor drainage
areas, as well as locations that recently experienced
flooding will be most prone.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as
25 below zero.
* WHERE...Eastern Ulster and Western Dutchess Counties.
* WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 10 AM EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on
exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind chills will plummet today, and will be
0 to 10 below zero through the day. The lowest wind chills are
expected tonight into early Saturday morning. Winds will gust
from 30 to 40 miles per hour into tonight, which could result
in in isolated power outages.
