Warning for the following rivers in Georgia...Tennessee...
South Chickamauga Creek Near Chickamauga TN affecting Catoosa and
Hamilton Counties.
For the South Chickamauga...including Chickamauga TN...Minor
flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...South Chickamauga Creek near Chickamauga TN.
* WHEN...From this evening to Sunday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Water begins to cross Mack Smith Road in
Catoosa County, Georgia. Flooding begins at golf courses near the
confluence of South and West Chickamauga Creeks. West Chickamauga
Creek begins to overflow its banks, as well.
At 19.0 feet, Water across Mack Smith Road begins to impede
traffic. West Chickamauga Creek overflows its banks near the
Georgia state line and inundates several roads and properties in
the area.
At 20.0 feet, Mack Smith Road is closed. Water crosses Lovell
Field Loop, the access road around the north end of the airport
runway.
At 21.0 feet, Mack Smith Road and Lovell Field Loop become
impassable. Water begins to come onto Airport Road, just north of
the terminal complex. West Chickamauga Creek increases to near a
half mile wide in places, becoming hazardous to adjacent travel in
East Ridge.
At 22.0 feet, Airport Road is closed to traffic. A couple of homes
are slightly flooded near intersection of Mack Smith Road and May
Street. Flooding becomes extensive around the north end of the
airport.

- At 10:15 AM EDT Friday the stage was 11.0 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this evening to a crest of 21.5 feet tomorrow morning. It
will then fall below flood stage early Sunday morning.

Grainger, Hamblen, Hamilton, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson,
Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Morgan, North Sevier,
Northwest Blount, Northwest Carter, Northwest Cocke, Northwest
Greene, Northwest Monroe, Rhea, Roane, Scott TN, Sequatchie,
Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast Carter, Southeast Greene,
Southeast Monroe, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union, Washington TN and West
Polk, and southwest Virginia, including the following areas, Lee,
Russell, Scott VA, Washington VA and Wise.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water
crossings may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Moderate to locally heavy rainfall is expected over the next
24 hours across some areas. Isolated rainfall amounts in
excess of 2" are possible, which would cause a threat for
flooding due to recent saturated soils. The areas most at
risk would be north of the Interstate 40 corridor where
recent rainfall has been heaviest. But the risk of localized
heavy rains will exist anywhere.

* WHAT...Temperatures as low as 34 will result in areas of frost
formation.
* WHERE...Bradley, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Northwest
Monroe, Rhea, and West Polk Counties.
* WHEN...From 5 AM EDT /4 AM CDT/ to 10 AM EDT /9 AM CDT/ Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive
outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
Ongoing drought conditions combined with low afternoon relative
humidity values will lead to elevated fire risk today. Relative
humidity values will drop into the upper teens to middle 20s
across much of the area this afternoon. Winds will be northeast at
5 to 15 mph.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn today. Use extreme caution when burning as fires may
get out of hand quickly in these conditions.
Patchy dense fog has developed in some areas this morning.
Visibilities will be below a quarter of a mile at times in some
locations. Be sure to slow down and use your low beam headlights
when you encounter any fog.
