A winter storm has hit Alabama, bringing snow, sleet, freezing rain, and ice accumulation. Temperatures remain below freezing in the northern half of the state, with road conditions not expected to improve until tomorrow when temperatures rise above freezing. The National Weather Service warns of a long-duration cold wave with wind chill values as low as single digits below zero. Residents are advised to stay informed about temperatures and road conditions and take necessary safety precautions. Another surge of Arctic air is expected on Friday, keeping temperatures very cold throughout the weekend. However, there is good news as temperatures are expected to warm up in the latter half of next week, reaching the 60s.
