We are now a week into the school Hybrid program. We thought it would improve the all-day classroom environment that our kids were doing before. We were wrong.
Initial thoughts: Classes are now even shorter. The actual schedule has been cut in half. Most of the teaching is either in the morning or afternoon. Wednesdays and Fridays, there is either no school or child-focused work where the parent has to do the teaching. With multiple children at home, this isn't easy. At this rate, if the kids did school all day Monday and Tuesday, it would be the equivalent of the current schedule.
We hear more and more that some teachers don't want to go back to school, yet they certainly want to be paid. Shockingly, more parents aren't standing up and demanding that teachers go back to work. We are all paying their salaries. If they don't want to work, quit and find an easier job - our kids are losing our day after day. A majority of other states are back to school, with most full-time. Has anyone heard of any issues? Nope! If there were any, you can rest assured the media would blow each one grossly out of proportion. So, where are all the stories of Covid19 related school issues in all the other states that have gone back to school... ? There are none. Plane and simple.
Teaching via the computer was ok if they had stuck to the normal schedules - they didn't. The Hybrid programs are a joke. Now, in reality, teachers are running out of excuses for not going back full time. Teachers are getting paid by the people, and now they need to go back to work teaching our kids.
