Some can still be found, hence the name." The name has historically been recorded as "Cain Patch". Cane Patch Creek/Cane Beds Spring has the same etymology.The Southern Paiute name, Paɣáŋq`ʷtonƐnįnto`, translates to "cane valley".: 789 Edward Sapir identified a Paiute location romanized as "Paganktonic" as likely being Cane Beds.
