The Average Home price is $86,750, and the average rent is $725. Household median income in Atwood is $48,750, and the individual median income is $32,452. Atwood’s Ethnic is the following: White(98.2%), Multiple(1.1%), Asian(0.7%), Hispanic(0.3%).
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,290 people, 534 households, and 371 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,265.8 inhabitants per square mile (874.8/km2). There were 566 housing units at an average density of 994.1 per square mile (383.8/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 99.07% White, 0.23% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.31% from other races, and 0.08% from two or more races.
Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.70% of the population. There were 534 households, out of which 30.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% were non-families. 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 2.92. In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.5% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 89.4 males.
For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.7 males. The median income for a household in the village was $36,806, and the median income for a family was $45,625. Males had a median income of $35,573 versus $21,595 for females. The per capita income for the village was $18,028. About 7.7% of families and 12.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.7% of those under age 18 and 9.0% of those age 65 or over.
