John Anthony Shubitz, age 80, of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away on September 7, 2018. Born on July 29, 1938, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Slovenian immigrant parents Thomas and Mary Subic (which became Shubitz at Ellis Island), John was the seventh of eight children born in the Shubitz family. His death was caused by complications from Parkinson’s disease. John is survived by his wife, Rita (Latini) Shubitz; sons Mark (Jenny Vasquez) and Steven; and grandsons Jonathan and Matthew.
