Wheeling to welcome $60 million multi-use development, featuring hotel and river views

The future of Wheeling continues to grow, as plans for a multimillion-dollar transformational building that will take over the 1400 block of Main Street were announced on Tuesday morning.

Vol For Life, an LLC led by Wheeling entrepreneur Barry Allen, will build a 122-room hotel that features residential living overlooking the river, a 2,600 square-foot event center, retail space, a coffee shop, wine bar, and a rooftop bar.

Everett Lee, who broke down racial barriers as the first Black conductor on Broadway, passed away on Jan. 12 at a hospital in Malmo, Sweden, the New York Times reports. He was 105.

The current school year is winding down, but Monday night Ohio County Board of Education named three principals to take over administrative positions officially beginning in August.
