Trial Date Set: Omaha Doctor Accused of Killing Sioux Falls Woman

A Nebraska surgeon, accused of killing a Sioux Falls woman in a 2023 Omaha car accident, will stand trial in August.

The head-on collision took place on September 1, 2023 on Dodge Street in Omaha near the 62nd Street intersection.

According to police reports, 61-year-old Dr. Mark Carlson's Mercedes Benz was traveling as fast as 106 miles per hour just seconds before it struck a light pole and then a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Anna Bosma.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Smithfield Foods, the world's biggest pork processor, said on Sunday it will shut a U.S. plant indefinitely due to a rash of coronavirus cases among employees and warned the country was moving "perilously close to the edge" in supplies for grocers.

Slaughterhouse shutdowns are disrupting the U.S. food supply chain, crimping availability of meat at retail stores and leaving farmers without outlets for their livestock.
