Avon Fire Department annual soup supper to be held Feb. 5

AVON-The Avon Fire Department will hold their annual soup supper Saturday, Feb. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Avon Fire Station, 105 Clinton Street. The department plans to serve vegetable and chili soups, along with vegetable trays and desserts at the upcoming event. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.

According to Avon Fire Chief, Frank Craver, a free will donation will be accepted.

"The money raised will go for speciality equipment for the department," Craver explained.

Missing woman may be in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department is asking for our help to find a missing woman from Avon, Illinois.

Deputies say 20-year-old Alyah Hammer was last seen at a Galesburg hospital on October 27.

Hammer, who has been missing since October 22, is 4'8" tall and 72 pounds with shoulder length strawberry blonde hair.

Investigators say Hammer does not have identification with her.
