As an Army reservist called up for active duty and deployed to Iraq in early 2008, Joshua Whitney survived an attack 10 months later that left shrapnel in his left leg — but it was the memories of the attack that he couldn't recover from. Fake-bearded bank robber pleads guilty, faces up to 64 years in prison

LAFAYETTE — Joseph Kruger made a name for himself last summer and early fall by wearing kitschy disguises, including long, fake beards, when he robbed banks, but Kruger's masquerades ended Tuesday.

A clean-shaven Kruger pleaded guilty Tuesday in Tippecanoe Superior Court 2 to one count of armed robbery, two counts of robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery. He also admitted to being a habitual offender.

Tuesday was Kruger's second attempt to own up to the charges against him in Tippecanoe County.
