Sterling Heights celebrates installation of city's first bike lanes in pilot program

The City of Sterling Heights recently celebrated the completion of a bike lane along a 2.3-mile stretch of Plumbrook Road. City officials celebrated the occasion as it’s the first bike lane to be installed in Sterling Heights, Michigan’s fourth largest city.The stretch of Plumbrook Road from Utica to 17 Mile roads was selected in part because of the corridor’s lighter traffic load compared to other roadways in the city. Michigan State Police investigating after 21-year-old man shot by Melvindale police

MELVINDALE, Mich. – Michigan State Police have been asked to investigate after a 21-year-old man was shot by Melvindale police.

The shooting happened at around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, in the area of Schaefer Road, west of I-75 in Melvindale. Officers were in the area, which is a storage area for Ford and General Motors, to investigate a suspicious vehicle.
