Kansas man sentenced for killing ex-girlfriend and burying her in shallow grave

OMAHA, Neb. (TCD) — A Kansas man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend, burying her body in a shallow grave in another state, and fleeing to Central America.

KETV-TV reports Aldrick Scott was sentenced May 30, about two months after he was found guilty of first-degree murder, use of a weapon, and tampering with evidence for the November 2022 killing of Cari Allen. The judge also handed him a sentence of 45 to 60 years for the last two charges, plus 532 days of time served.

TOPEKA — Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach says a second person was arrested for allegedly forging signatures on petitions relied upon by the No Labels Kansas to gain official status as a political party in January.
