Kansas man sentenced for killing ex-girlfriend and burying her in shallow grave

OMAHA, Neb. (TCD) — A Kansas man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend, burying her body in a shallow grave in another state, and fleeing to Central America.

KETV-TV reports Aldrick Scott was sentenced May 30, about two months after he was found guilty of first-degree murder, use of a weapon, and tampering with evidence for the November 2022 killing of Cari Allen. The judge also handed him a sentence of 45 to 60 years for the last two charges, plus 532 days of time served.

Kansas spends $2.8M on digital literacy training for underserved groups

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly on Thursday announced that the state will give $2.8 million to 15 organizations throughout the state to boost digital literacy training programs.
