Six people seek two open seats on board of commissioners

NEW PHILADELPHIA — A total of six candidates have filed to run for the two open seats on the Tuscarawas County Board of Commissioners — four Republicans and two Democrats.

Wednesday was the deadline for candidates to file petitions with the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections to run in the May primary.

Four people have filed for the seat being vacated by Commissioner Al Landis, who is not seeking reelection because he is running for the state Senate in the 31st District. It is a four-year term.
