In the days after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had dozens of migrants flown from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, the Migrant Resource Center found itself in a national spotlight.

A family of six Venezuelan migrants spoke to TPR outside the facility on Tuesday. After a day that saw temperatures near 100 degrees, it was finally cool enough in the evening to sit outside and pass the time.

Massive Alice fire destroys three non-residential structures, burns 128 acres

Firefighters from eight different fire departments battled a fire on Highway 44 near McMasters and Beam Station in Alice on Tuesday.

According to Alice Fire Chief Patrick Thomas, the fire burned 128 acres.

Thomas said three non-residential structures were burned in the fire with other buildings in the area. There were no reports of injuries.

As of Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., the fire was 85 percent contained due to hotspots still flaring up, Thomas said.
