Unions continue to negotiate with Graphic Packaging

DOMINO, Texas -- Local United Steel Worker unions are continuing to negotiate with Graphic Packaging Paper Co. over a contract that expired in April.

Local USW unions 1148 and 1149 voted in favor of a strike on June 15 if negotiations fail or stall. Strike is no longer imminent as the Union's bargaining committee feels that strategically they are in a more comfortable position, according to a letter provided to the Gazette by the bargaining committee.

A 26-year-old Queen City, Texas man drown overnight while canoeing in Atlanta State Park.

On Friday, August 28 at approximately 2 a.m. Texas Game Wardens along with Deputies from Cass County were dispatched to a drowning at Atlanta State Park.
