UPDATE: Knox City-O’Brien CISD closes following COVID-19 cases

KNOX CITY, Texas (TNN) - UPDATE

Knox City-O’Brien CISD is closing for 14 days after the county local health authority determined most of their students in the high school and junior high were considered in close contact with three students that tested positive for COVID-19.

The school district was informed about one positive case on Monday and has had three more students test positive since then. Two of these students attend the high school and one attends the junior high.

University provost steps down, effective immediately

Mike O’Brien, Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s provost and vice president for academic affairs, has left his post, according to a Dec. 9 email from President Cynthia Teniente-Matson addressed to university faculty and staff.

Matson wrote O’Brien is stepping down “effective immediately,” and following a short sabbatical, will stay on as faculty.
