Massive Alice fire destroys three non-residential structures, burns 128 acres

Firefighters from eight different fire departments battled a fire on Highway 44 near McMasters and Beam Station in Alice on Tuesday.

According to Alice Fire Chief Patrick Thomas, the fire burned 128 acres.

Thomas said three non-residential structures were burned in the fire with other buildings in the area. There were no reports of injuries.

As of Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., the fire was 85 percent contained due to hotspots still flaring up, Thomas said.

A Navy training aircraft crashed as it was approaching Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas, the service announced Tuesday.

A T-45 Goshawk crashed around noon local time during a routine training flight that began at NAS Kingsville, according to a news release from the Chief of Naval Air Training public affairs office.
