Somerville ISD board unanimously selects lone finalist for superintendent

SOMERVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - Somerville ISD selected a new superintendent after the district’s Board of Trustees unanimously agreed on Eric Holton as the lone finalist.

Former Somerville ISD Superintendent Karla Sparks voluntarily resigned from her position as the school year began with no explanation to the public or parents.

Now, in accordance with state law, the district must wait 21 days to officially hire Holton.

Firefighters extinguish grass fire in Burlerson County

SNOOK, Texas (KBTX) - Firefighters have extinguished a grass fire that was burning Monday afternoon in Burleson County in the area of FM 60 and FM 50.

The Snook Volunteer Fire Department was providing updates here on the department’s Facebook page.

Firefighters say it started as a controlled burn that got out of control.

Currently, there is no burn ban in effect for the county.
